Eblockade Instructions

Eblockade's new spam blocking system is a web-based interface and management system that gives the end-users control over how their mail is processed by virus scanners, spam filters, as well as defaults and limits set by Eblockade administrators.

Eblockade, uses Artificial Intelligence to block spam. This means all of your email will come through without anyone having to verify themselves. This system gives each email a rating. If the rating is high, it is quarantined in our system so you can decide if you want it to come through to your inbox. If the score is low, it will come through without being quarantined.

You can control what is marked as SPAM and what is not by logging into the eBlocakdeAI Administration page here and marking items as SPAM or NON-SPAM. This system also checks for Viruses and Banned Files. The important thing to remember for this system is that it quarantines email instead of blocking them.

There are other features such as the White List and Black List. This works similar to the safe and remove list on the old system. Basically White list addresses are already marked as NON-SPAM and Black List addresses are listed as SPAM and not allowed through to your inbox. Listed below are some features of this system.

Eblockade Individual User Quarantine Management

  • User-managed content filtering settings
  • User maintained white and black lists
  • Visibility of Quarantined spam (sorted by score)
  • Visibility of Quarantined virus (sorted by date)
  • Visibility of text and HTML contents of quarantined mail in decoded or raw form in a "safe" mail viewer.
  • Email recovery from quarantined items by users and/or ability to delete, redeliver or confirm emails as spam.
  • Ability for user to report "false negatives" (i.e. spam that gets past the filters)
  • User-Friendly Web Interface
  • Cross-browser support (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, etc.)
  • Graphical Toolbars with Icons

I have included screen shots of the new administration page so you can get a better understanding of this system. If you have any questions, please contact us at customerservice@infoage.us.

Eblockade Welcome Page

This page is the first page you see when logging into Eblockade. This is a snapshot of what the Eblockade filter has cached as Non-Spam, Spam, Virus, Banned-File and Bad-Header cache.

The list of all the categories of email Eblockade scans for (mentioned above) is listed, along with how many items are suspected to be in that category. Using these features will help fight against unwanted email. More information about these categories can be found below.

Non-spam is mail that Eblockade believes to be legitimate. If there are items in your “non-spam cache” then click the REPORT/CONFIRM button to see what items have been reported as non-spam. These items have been tagged as non-spam by Eblockade and have come through to your inbox. Eblockade has kept a record of it here so if you received SPAM you can report the item here. Likewise, if you have not received an email that appears in the non-spam cache list but feel it is a legitimate email, then you can resend that email to your inbox (this is mention in more detail below).

These emails are in your non spam cache because the system gave it a score below 5. Emails with a score above 5 go to into the spam-cache list.

By default these items are marked as NON- SPAM since they are in your non-spam cache. If the item is in fact SPAM you can select the SPAM radio button. If the item is marked as spam then you will drive the score up to eventually put in your SPAM-Cache. Conversely, if you confirm it as NON-SPAM it will lower the rating. From the page you will confirm all items on the page. Once you have made all of your selections throughout the list on the page, then you will need to click Confirm the Status of these Items button at the bottom of the page.

If you are unsure if the item is spam or not, you can click on the subject and it will safely show you the original message. You can then mark it SPAM , NON-SPAM, Delete or (Re)deliver this mail. It will block all images or attachments associated with the email and only show text. Keep in mind, any checked items on the previous page will be reset when you click on the subject to view an item and go back.

If you have items in your SPAM-CACHE then the system has quarantined them until you confirm the status of the email. To check spam cache click Report/Rescue.

The score that system gave the email is provided on this page. If the score is higher than 5 then it is put in your SPAM Cache. If the item is not spam and you mark it NON-SPAM it will be automatically delivered to your inbox.

By clicking on the subject of the message you can get a breakdown of the score and why the system flagged it. From here you can also report the item SPAM , NON-SPAM, Delete, View Raw or (Re)deliver this mail.

There are 3 other Cache areas. Virus Cache, Banned File Cache, and Bad Header Cache. The Spam filter scans for viruses, if a virus is found it is quarantined in Eblockade until you either Delete or Rescue the message. Also, the Eblockade filters banned files and attachments such as .exe files which can contain viruses. Bad Header messages can be quarantine if there is an issue with any email addresses within the email.

Statistics are available to show you what the system has allowed or quarantined for you.

Your Whitelist lets you specify that mail is coming from specific senders (or entire domains) that should not be spam-checked, and should be delivered to your inbox regardless of its content. It's a way of making sure that you don't inadvertently block mail from people you know and trust.

Your Blacklist is effectively the opposite of your Whitelist. It lets you specify that mail coming from specific senders (or entire domains) should never be delivered to you, under any circumstances. Senders on this list will be blocked, regardless of the content of their email.

To add an address to the Whitelist or Blacklist, click W/B List on the left side menu. Then enter the email address, select either Whitelist or Blacklist, and click Add to List. You can later switch that address to the other list or remove it completely. You can also add a whole domain to the Whitelist or Blacklist. To do this, use a wildcard (such as: *@infoage.us)

You can click on the Settings link on the left-hand menu to view different options for Eblockade. By default the system is set to send your quarantine reminder email each day. You can turn this off or set it to different intervals.

There is a HELP link that gives more details on the spam filter.

Eblockade will send you a daily email with a snapshot of what has been cached for each category. You can individually rescue mislabeled spam items.
